5 AI LLMs I use on a daily basis and why (plus some tips to get the most from them)!
ChatGPT
Yup, I still use ChatGPT on an almost an hourly basis to brainstorm ideas, research topics, and to find answers to simple questions and general problems.
Tip: Set you profile up to explain who you are and what you want, along with preferences for communication style. It massively improves the responses you get.
Warning: ChatGPT is around 88% accurate, I highly recommend researching (via search) anything important or that needs to be validated.
Never enter anything confidential or personally identifiable as OpenAi reserves the right to retain the data. This rule applies with all the tools I mention below!
$20 / month.
Claude
There are some tasks where I find Claude is better than ChatGPT. They tend to be professional tasks and in particular large document reviews, in-depth analysis and generating text that feels less AI.
Tip: Ask for step-by-step responses, it’s particularly good at breaking things down in this way.
If you have ChatGPT Plus, I don’t think you need to pay for Claude.
Warning: Same as ChatGPT, I still research the output to validate it. Try to avoid copying and pasting the output – put your spin on it.

Perplexity
When I’m worried ChatGPT or Claude are out of date, I use Perplexity. It digs deeper and offers more explanations, context and sources.
Tip: As above with Claude. If you pay for ChatGPT there’s no need to also pay for a monthly subscription on Perplexity. Especially as you get 3 free pro searches per day on the free plan!
Warning: Same as ChatGPT, I still research the output to validate it.

Gemini Deep Research
If I need to dig really deep into something, I’ve recently been using Gemini Advanced, Deep Resarch. It carries out extensive research and puts together a comprehensive report in response.
Tip: You need to give it a really good brief to get the best from it... think professional level prompt engineering. Make use of the research plan and refine it to get the best outcomes.
Warning: It does take a while to run... and ChatGPT Deep Research could be a strong contender to replace it in the future.
$18.99 / month.
Undetectable AI
To sense check if what people have sent me was created by AI... for example LinkedIn comments and responses to my emails.
Tip: Using this tool can make you frustrated with just how much of what you receive is AI generated... so you might want to accept that, before starting to check things!
Warning: It’s not always 100% accurate, but it does give you a probability % which is useful.
