Inspired by my time at REMIX last week
Inspired by my time at REMIX last week, I decided to paint some redacted notes (with a bit of help from the kids), to surface my most important takeaways from the summit. Here's what they mean...
REMIX Summits - Culture, Tech & Entrepreneurship is a wonderful blend of talks and conversations around culture, tech and entrepreneurship.
After two fantastic days of talks, conversations and socialising, here are my key takeaways:
- THROUGH the FOGGY change, we need to guide tech with HEART
Mark Ball, Southbank Centre talked of the need to hold hands through the fog. And that technology needs to be guided by the heart to be more human.
- Change can feel scary, but we have TIME
The exclusive CoSTAR Foresight Lab film commissioned for REMIX reminded us that whilst change is scary, we have time to adjust.
- Make time to LISTEN to music
Keith Jopling, author of Body of Work, spoke to the importance of taking time to actually listen to music. It's inspired me to do so.
- Seeing nature through the simplicity of a GLASS lens
ed sayers stunning film Super Nature, filmed through the simple GLASS lens of a Super 8 captivated the audience. It felt such a contrast to other talks and reminded us all the important of the simplicity of life around nature.
- There is a lot of UNCERTAINTY in the world
Katherine Templar Lewis from Kinda Studios reiterated just how much uncertainty there is in the world. Something we all hear a lot at the moment.
- We must learn to BUSK, and feel EMOTION
Stuart Semple really blew the doors of the conference, talking about his incredible story, and the importance for all of us to be buskers. To lean in and use the tools. To be artists. Chatting to Stuart afterwards certainly invoked a lot of emotion in me, and triggered me to paint up my notes. Thanks Stuart.
- We need more GREEN spaces
Neil Hubbard, from Heatherwick Studio presented some stunning projects which introduced more green into cities. It seems despite what we think, we crave to be in nature.
- AI Confidential panel
The 7DOTS AI Confidential panel talk with Katie McPhee, Eamon Byrne, me and hosted by Missy Clements tackled confessions and questions from attendees. It was challenging, in the best possible way, was great fun to reflect on how people felt. More to follow on this in due course.
- A HUG says it all
And of course, not forgetting that the conference started and ended with a hug. A hug to say hi to Simon Cronshaw and Peter Tullin who we have worked with for over 15 years. And to say thanks to the incredible 7DOTS team, Missy Clements, Elsie Johnston and James Flint who made it all so much fun.
- The conference was a great reminder that HUMANS being TOGETHER is what really MATTERS.
