I recently used this stat during a BIMA (British Interactive Media Association) Masterclass with Gabriela about Ai and I’ve been thinking about it ever since:

“78% of consumers believe generative AI is the future. Yet, only 39% are excited about that future.”*
That tension tells a big story: People recognise the potential, but they’re not convinced it will make their lives better.
This hesitation reflects a gap between what technology can do and how we make it work for people. And for businesses, that’s the challenge—and the opportunity.
The truth is, technology itself isn’t the differentiator. Success will come to those who:
-
Focus on the end user: Making sure you are having a positive impact / adding value to the end user and building trust through transparency.
-
Design with empathy: Ensuring AI enhances, not replaces, the human experience.
-
Innovate responsibly: Solve meaningful problems without getting swept up in hype.
Generative AI has the potential to redefine industries. But its real power lies in how we apply it to create experiences that are not just efficient, but personal, valuable, and even delightful.
If the future feels uncertain, that’s okay—because it’s not written yet. It’s being shaped by the choices we make today.
Please follow me for more content around digital experience, and technology for positive impact.
I’d love to hear your thoughts Dafydd, Amrit Chandan and Cyrille.
