Gen AI is making things faster, smarter and smoother.
But is it quietly cutting us off from one another?
Is it impacting you?

I've been thinking about this over the weekend, since posting about the changing usage of Gen AI in 2025 compared to 2024: https://lnkd.in/eSvyZhy8
We're using Gen AI to do more and more. Draft emails, craft narrative, answer questions. And it's amazing. But is it too easy, and is it replacing human contact?
Research, recently covered by the Guardian (link in comments), showed that people who spend more time using Gen AI, ended up feeling more lonely.
It seems ironic that the top three usages of AI have now become topics that in part try to address the very problem it might be causing:
- Therapy / companionship
- Organising my life
- Finding purpose
This isn't a call-to-arms to stop using AI. Far from it. I'm a huge believer in the power of technology to good and solve problems.
But it is a good reminder that working together as a team, has many benefits, beyond the output it creates. It's actually very good for us all, even if it can be difficult at times...
...as per the many studies that show true happiness in life actually come from meaningful relationships with those around you. I highly recommend reading "The Good Life: Lessons from the World's Longest Study on Happiness" if you want to learn more about this.
Robert Waldinger are you starting to see the impact of Gen AI in the The Harvard Study of Adult Development?
Is anyone else feeling the impact of spending too much time with Gen AI?
