Businesses are facing an innovation problem
Businesses are facing an innovation problem, and embracing neurodiverse teams holds the key to overcoming it.

I’m dyslexic and part of a very neurodiverse family. And I’ve spent the last 16 years building a neurodiverse business.
And it’s in this context that Ben Scoggins post last week on the importance of individuals and teams really got me thinking.
The challenge right now is that, even when teams look diverse on paper, true diversity – especially cognition (or neurodiversity) – is still relatively rare.
Combine this with the fact Generative AI is trained on vast sets of data that represents the most typical and common thinking and we’ve got a problem:
Everything is becoming more and more generic.
Just when the world around us is becoming increasingly challenging, it seems we’re on a path to sameness, and that isn’t good enough!
People and businesses need to differentiate and innovate to thrive, but if we outsource too much of our thinking to AI, and don’t embrace the value of neurodiverse thinking, we’ll be just one of many voices saying and doing increasingly similar things.
For the businesses who have already clocked this, there’s an amazing opportunity, one that I’m incredibly excited about.
Combining the power of neurodiverse teams, who think differently and outside the box, with the power of AI to drive scale and speed, and you’ve got a killer combination.
I’m incredibly proud of the neurodiverse team we’ve built at 7DOTS, and the amazing work we’re delivering as a result, and I’d love to swap notes with other people combing the super-strengths of neurodiversity and AI talent.
